Loading a Tool Data Base

Loading a Tool Data Base

This solution is for loading a tool database. You will need to have setup an account with Mastercam and link your account to gain access to the Tech Exchange. Once you have done that go to Mastercam's website and through Support to Tech Exchange. In this example we will be loading a tool database for Mastercam 2019.

Once there type the keyword in for what you're looking for, in this example Chatterfree was used, and you can download the database.

Open the downloaded tool database and open it with Windows explorer. Open a second Windows explorer and go to the C drive, then Users, to Public, the Public Documents, and find the Shared Mastercam folder for the version of Mastercam you're using. Go into the Shared folder for your version,  in this example it Mastercam 2019, and then go into the folder for the machine type you want to add the tool database to.

In this example it's the Mill folder. Inside you will find the Tool folder and you can click on the tool database and drag and drop it into the Tools folder.

In Mastercam , when you start a toolpath you can change the tool database when you go to select a tool. Just go to Select Library Tool and in the next pop up, click in the file explore button, and select the desired tool database.

Note: You can save tools from one database to another, and you can use the Tool Manager through the start menu under the version of Mastercam you're using to load tools from one database to another.
