Bitdefender is flagging Mastercam's licensing

Problem

Mastercam fails to load past Beginning startup tasks on the splash screen

All versions of Mastercam fail to load successfully and stop at the Beginning startup tasks phase of the splash screen.


Cause
A recent update to Bitdefender is flagging some of our licensing files as a threat. Due to this, Mastercam is unable to load a license and launch.


Solution
There have been two different solutions to get Mastercam running with Bitdefender's latest update.
      1. In the Advanced Threat Control, an exclusion has to be made for the Mastercam installation directory. This must be done for each version of Mastercam that is running on the system.
Bitdefender has been contacted to get Mastercam whitelisted in order to address this issue.



2. If the customer is using Bit Defender GravityZone (which uses a cloud based management tool), use these directions to add a folder to exclusion list: https://www.bitdefender.com/support/antimalware-exclusions-in-bitdefender-gravityzone-1232.html

If adding an exclusion does not fix the problem, some users found running Mastercam in Windows 8 compatibility mode solved the issue. 
To do this, right click on the Mastercam shortcut and go to the Compatibility tab. Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for: and then select Windows 8 from the dropdown.
